The area of your car that gets the dirtiest are the wheels. Every time you hit the brakes – the friction between the brake pads and the brake rotors stops your car – but also – each time you do this, both the pads and the rotors are breaking down and this shows up as brake dust on the outside of your car’s wheels.
What makes your wheels even dirtier is anytime you drive in rainy weather. The water on the streets, roads and highways is a mixture of rainwater plus all the oily fluids other cars drip onto the road as they are being driven. These oily fluids mix with the rainwater and the cars driving in front of you naturally spray this dirty, oily water mixture onto your car. Now you have corrosive brake dust sticking to the oily road grime on your car’s wheels and the more time goes by the dirtier your wheels become.
3D Wheel Brite cleans your car’s wheels fast! The chemists at 3D formulated this wheel cleaner to break down and remove both corrosive (and also abrasive), brake dust and oily road grime. These are two very different types of contaminants and to remove both safely and effectively you need a wheel cleaner that is formulated using multiple types of synergistically compatible chemistry. Most wheel cleaners are either good at removing brake dust or good at removing road film not always both. Our chemists are completely up to speed with what our customer’s want and need from a wheel cleaner and this product will not disappoint you.

NOTE: In most cases after diluting 3D Wheel Brite at 4:1 – next, spray the wheel cleaner onto one wheel at a time. Allow the Wheel Brite to dwell for 20 to 30 seconds – but don’t let the product dry on the wheel. Then blast the wheel with a strong spay of water to remove the Wheel Brite and all the brake dust and road film the 3D Wheel Brite has dissolved and emulsified. For severely neglected wheels – agitate with a brush and the blast with water.
IMPORTANT: Always work on a cool surface in the shade. Never wash HOT rims. If the car was just driven – allow for some time for the brakes, including rotors, calipers and pads – to cool down. Do NOT spray water onto hot brake components. Also do not spray any brand of cleaner onto hot wheels or hot brake components. Always allow for these things to cool down before you work on them.
First Dilute Product
3D Wheel Brite is diluted at 4:1 – for a 32-ounce spray bottle you would add 6.4 ounces of 3D Wheel Brite to an empty, clean OSHA approved, correctly marked spray bottle and then fill the rest of the bottle with clean water. For severely neglected wheels, dilute 3D Wheel Brite at 2:1. To dilute at 2:1 – add 10.6 ounces to an empty, clean OSHA approved, correctly marked spray bottle and then fill the rest of the bottle with clean water
Step 1: Blast the wheel and tire with a strong spray of water to remove any loose dirt, grime and/or brake dust.
Step 2: Spray the correct dilution of 3D Wheel Brite onto the wheel starting at the bottom of the wheel with a side-to-side sweeping spray pattern moving upward until the entire wheel is covered in product. Allow the Wheel Brite to dwell for 20 to 30 seconds.
Step 3: Rinse wheel with strong blast of water to remove the 3D Wheel Brite and any and all brake dust and oily road film. If brake dust or road film remains – re-treat wheel with Wheel Brite and agitate with a professional grade, soft wheel brush. Then rinse.
Professional Technique Tip
Professional detailers use this technique anytime they are spaying any type of cleaner onto any surface. This is a best practice technique that separates the pros from those still learning as they go.
Anytime you’re spraying any cleaner onto any vertical surface, (like rims), never start by spraying from the top down. When you do this, you have concentrated product running or streaming down the unclean surface and however slight, there is a potential for a negative chemical reaction.
Instead, always spray from the bottom up. Use sprayer that atomizes the liquid and a sweeping, side-to-side spray pattern. When you use this technique, you EQUALLY SATURATE the entire face of the rim and thus avoid any streams of concentrated cleaner running down the face of a wheel.
It’s the little things like this that put a lot of distance between a professional detailer and someone just starting out.
